As part of a maintenance project, DDM carried out the dismantling of internal furnace walls within an active industrial facility. The combination of restricted working space, high temperatures, ongoing production activities, and exposure to weather conditions required a carefully engineered and thoroughly planned approach.
A key element of the project was the deployment of a project-specific extended boom developed by DDM for a CAT 325 excavator. This custom engineered solution was designed to enable safe and controlled operation at depth in confined spaces and under challenging working conditions. To position the demolition excavator at the required location, a precisely planned lifting operation was executed.
Combined with 24-hour execution, the works were carried out efficiently while minimizing disruption to ongoing production. This project is a great example of how engineering expertise, craftsmanship, and collaboration come together to deliver results in a demanding industrial environment.
