DDM has been commissioned by Winthrop Technologies to carry out the dismantling of the former FedEx complex in Schiphol-Rijk to facilitate the development of the AMS13 data centre. The scope of work includes the complete demolition of the distribution warehouse, including its floor slab and foundations, the structural strip-out and demolition of the office building, and the removal of loading docks and external hardstanding areas.
The project was carried out by a team of experienced decommissioningspecialists, machine operators, and site supervisors. Throughout the entireproject duration, there were no health or safety incidents involving employees, subcontractors, or members of the public.
The primary challenge was to execute the demolition and dismantling works without adversely affecting surrounding business operations and sensitive manufacturing processes. Vibrations had the potential to impact nearby buildings and technical installations. In addition, it was essential to ensure that employees, visitors, and local residents were not exposed to risks arising from the works.
A second challenge was the safe execution of the dismantling activities within an environment where multiple disciplines were operating simultaneously. Effective communication, clearly defined working procedures, and continuous safety monitoring were therefore critical to the successful delivery of the project.

Removing 5 arch bridges over the Amsterdam Rhine Canal was an intensive job. The schedule was tight and the expectations of all employees were high. But with a joint effort and incredible passion, DDM has successfully removed and recycled the 5 bridges within schedule.
Every year DDM holds a number of safety days to boost safety awareness.
Last year's objectives are evaluated and new objectives are determined. All managers and all operational employees discuss safety, policy and vision together. In addition to all regular training courses, DDM offers workshops and training to all employees during these days to take the qualities of the professionals to an even higher level. Together with all DDM employees, we are working on an increasingly higher safety ethic. Everyone at DDM carries out their work in a safe and healthy manner, with sufficient attention to the environment. And they're getting better at it.
