On Saturday, 5 September, following months of preparation and intensive coordination with our client ALSรรN, DDM successfully demolished the Hoogblokland Viaduct. The viaduct is being replaced as part of Rijkswaterstaatโs A27 improvement project between Houten and Hooipolder.
The project was carried out to a tight schedule: the entire structure had to be demolished within a single shift of just 18 hours. Using heavy machinery, the bridge deck, abutments and three V-shaped piers were carefully demolished.
Particular attention was required around the central pier, where a critical fibre-optic cable ran directly alongside the work area. Safety, precision and close coordination were essential at this location.
Demolition began at 06:00. Thanks to thorough preparation and excellent teamwork, the last machines left the site at 23:00, well within the available time window.
