In 2024 was DDM commissioned by Ecolab to dismantle an iconic soap factory in Nieuwegein. The factory extended across five floors and accommodated the entire production process, from the storage of raw materials to the packaging of the final product, all housed in stainless steel equipment.
Many components, including storage tanks, mixing vessels, dosing tanks, packaging machines, and conveyor belts, were sold by Ecolab. Additionally, at the client’s request, DDM was responsible for offering several specialized installations, such as large storage tanks, to its professional network.
DDM also handled the relocation of an entire production line. The line was dismantled, prepared for transport using various custom-made support frames, and moved in ten trucks to a new site in France. Upon arrival, DDM reassembled the entire factory line.
Working closely with Ecolab, DDM first conducted an inspection to identify any leftover product residue and ensure a safe environment during dismantling and transport.
All factory components, including vessels, mixers, and dosing devices, were carefully dismantled and prepared for transportation. In order to remove certain installations, temporary openings were created in the façades and floors on several levels of the building.
For the approximately 500 installations and items, which included pumps, compressors, robots, packaging machines, and dosing mixers, appropriate transport methods were selected. Equipment parts such as screw conveyors were secured to avoid damage, and special transport services were arranged for the largest objects.
All equipment and installations were dismantled and transported without damage. Upon completion of the project, DDM restored the building to a safe condition by professionally sealing the temporary openings in the floors and façades.
The Quality and Health, Safety and the Environment policy is an ongoing process. That is why DDM is continuously working on improving all these areas to keep improving safety levels.
DDM was rewarded with a World Demolition Award in the Civils category.
Removing 5 arch bridges over the Amsterdam Rhine Canal was an intensive job. The schedule was tight and the expectations of all employees were high. But with a joint effort and incredible passion, DDM has successfully removed and recycled the 5 bridges within schedule.
Every year DDM holds a number of safety days to boost safety awareness.
Last year's objectives are evaluated and new objectives are determined. All managers and all operational employees discuss safety, policy and vision together. In addition to all regular training courses, DDM offers workshops and training to all employees during these days to take the qualities of the professionals to an even higher level. Together with all DDM employees, we are working on an increasingly higher safety ethic. Everyone at DDM carries out their work in a safe and healthy manner, with sufficient attention to the environment. And they're getting better at it. This applies to everyone; back to work healthy and safe and back home healthy.
Dow has awarded DDM a certificate for Outstanding Safety Performance.
