Dismantling chemical factory Linz

Linz, Austria Demolition Dismantling Asbestos

Dismantling chemical factory Linz

On behalf of a regular client, DDM dismantled a factory in Linz. The factory had been out of operation for some ten years. During this project, special attention was paid to the positioning of the cranes, cutting lines and general safety. It was a tough job, but not for DDM! As usual, DDM deployed a team with a lot of expertise to get the job done without any calamities.

Asbestos was also present within the project boundary. The asbestos was decontaminated and the decontaminated area was handed over clean before the dismantling work commenced.

In essence, the work consisted of dismantling the two furnaces. Prior to the dismantling of the ovens, pipes had to be dismantled up to the issued separation cut. Before cutting into these pipes, the specialists from DDM carried out extensive research to determine whether the pipes were free of hazardous substances.

The two ovens were dismantled from top to bottom. The wall elements of the ovens were cut into pieces by our dismantling specialists. Holes were cut in these pieces and chains were threaded through them. The heavy pieces were lifted down to ground level with lifting equipment specifically designed for this job. This was heavy lifting work that required constant alertness.

All waste streams were separated, processed, loaded and removed on site in time to make room for new materials. This part was taken very seriously as a lot of specialist work had to be done at a location with limited space.

Safety was, as always, also top priority in this project. During the work, the workplace had to be carefully monitored at all times.

DDM can proudly look back on a successful project. The client was very satisfied with the preparation, execution, planning and communication skills of DDM on the project.
