Disassembly and installation of cabin production line

Gent, Belgium Dismantling

Disassembly and installation of cabin production line

After a long period of preparations, the truck factory in Ghent was closed for a month as planned. During that period, DDM dismantled and rebuilt the complete cabin production line.

Most steel structures were dismantled along the full length of the production line and assembled and installed in a new location. All high-tech tools were also repositioned and installed. All electrical systems, air facilities, safety systems and computer control systems were adapted to the new situation.

The floor chain conveyor systems were exchanged, as were the drives. In addition to the production line, the associated storage warehouse was also completely adapted. Various hoisting facilities, racks and conveyor belts have been reinstalled. In less than four weeks, all items and tools have been moved and the production line has been organized more efficiently. After a number of extensive and successful test runs, production was able to restart.

Within the set schedule, DDM managed to optimize the complete truck cabin production line. Thanks to the adjustment, which was carried out as part of the client's European Optimization Program, more trucks are now being produced than ever before: production has increased by more than 14%.
