Dismantling presses Franke Brunssum

Brunssum, Netherlands Demolition Dismantling

Dismantling presses Franke Brunssum

DDM has received the trust of its client Franke to carefully dismantle 7 presses and various structures, containing a total of 550 tons of scrap.

Before the project started, we, in consultation with the client, looked at whether our disassembly specialists could purchase separately, due to the Covid-19 virus. In addition, we have taken control measures so that our dismantling specialists can work protected and undisturbed during the work.

The production hall where the presses were located was very polluted. A lot of work was done with polyester in the production hall; this created a lot of dust, which could be a potential fire hazard. We started with a team that carried out a cleaning action to create a safe working environment.

As soon as the hall was delivered clean, we started the demolition with another team. Using a crawler crane equipped with a scrap shear, we first cut away the surrounding platforms and pipes to free the presses. This was a very precise job because the hall was caved in on all sides. The working area was limited to only the “middle path” which we had well marked in advance. The remaining items were removed using aerial platforms.

We then started dismantling the presses; Cutting torches from aerial work platforms were used. We lifted the remaining parts with a 250 tonne crane and the existing overhead cranes. In this way we removed the presses to the basement. As soon as a hole appeared in the floor from the ground floor to the basement, we immediately closed it off with crush barriers so that there was no risk of falling. Subsequently, all other items were dismantled in the cellars, as well as the remaining buildings on the site.

The customer was so satisfied with the work carried out by DDM that we were commissioned additional work during the project.

The project was delivered within budget, without incidents and on time, which was translated by the customer into a very positive delivery report.
