Demolition of two cooling tower cells

A large refinery in eastern Germany has asked us to remove 2 cooling tower cells.

We have started demolishing the concrete structure, up to the top of the cooling basin. First of all, we placed approximately 1500m³ of filling floor in the basin to protect the foundation and the supports underneath. These are partly reused for the construction of two new cooling tower cells.

The next step was to dismantle the facade panels and the drip beams from the concrete construction of the cells. We started dismantling it using a 45T crawler crane with a long arm, which was completed as planned within two weeks. After the demolition of the concrete structures and the removal of the resulting materials, we removed the filling floor from the basin.

We removed the remaining foundation piles that are no longer needed for the new construction with concrete saws. This last job also went on time and according to plan. We completed the entire project within 8 weeks.

The customer is very satisfied because the work was carried out and delivered on site on time, safely and without inconvenience.
