Demolition of two cooling tower cells

DEMOLITION Projects | Demolition of two cooling tower cells

A large refinery in the east of Germany asked us to remove two cooling tower cells

We started with the demolition of the concrete structure, right up to the top of the cooling basin. First of all we placed approx. 1500m³ of filling floor in the basin, to protect the foundation and the supports underneath. These are partly reused for the construction of two new cooling tower cells.

The next step was to demolish the façade panels and the drip beams from the concrete construction of the cells. We did this using a 45T high reach excavator. We started with the demolition, which was completed within two weeks as per the plan. After the demolition of the concrete structures and the removal of the demolition arisings, we removed the imported materials from the basin.

Using specialist concrete saws, we removed the remaining foundation piles that were made redundant and were no longer needed for the new construction. This project was completed within the allocated timeframe and according to the outline plan. The entire project was completed within the planned 8 week schedule.

Another satisfied client due to the work being completed on time, safely and without inconvenience to the remaining site.
